The heavens are putting on quite the show this month going forward – with not one, not two, but seven planets in retrograde motion; Mercury, Venus, Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, and Uranus. For astrology enthusiasts, this is a particularly poignant moment, as the energies of these planets tend to be felt more introspectively when they’re in retrograde. It’s important to know that things are going to be a bit bumpy and treacherous with so many planets in retrograde motion.

Here’s some information on each of the retrogrades.
Venus went retrograde in Leo on July 22nd – September 4; the planet of love, beauty, and values. When she is retrograde, it’s a time to reassess what and who we value. It’s not uncommon to experience nostalgia, thinking about past relationships or maybe even rekindling old flames. We will all be challenged to revisit how we give and receive love as well as rethinking our financial situation.
Advice: Use this period to reflect on your personal values and the dynamics of your relationships. Avoid making hasty decisions, especially in the realm of love and finance.
Mercury goes retrograde August 23rd in Virgo through September 15th; Mercury governs communication, travel, and technology. With Mercury retrograde, miscommunications, tech glitches, and travel mishaps are more common. Avoid entering into any major contracts during this time period.
Advice: Double-check your plans, give yourself additional time when traveling, back up your digital data, and practice patience when misunderstandings arise. Ask for clarification with communications, if necessary.
Pluto went retrograde in Aquarius on May 1st – October 22nd; Pluto, the planet of transformation and rebirth effects are more internal, psychological, and emotional. The planet named for the “God of the Underworld” will challenge you to check and ideally address – your own toxic, negative, and self-destructive behaviors, patterns and belief systems.
Advice: Embrace introspection. Acknowledge past traumas and seek healing, either through therapy, meditation, or personal reflection.
Saturn also went retrograde in Aquarius earlier this year, in Aquarius on June 17th – November 4th; Saturn signifies discipline, hard work, and lessons. Saturn is the taskmaster who focuses on responsibility and structures. When in retrograde, we’re prompted to reevaluate our responsibilities and commitments.
Advise: Reflect on your goals and whether you’re on the right path. It might be time to restructure or reassess certain areas of your life.
Neptune went retrograde in Pisces on July 1st – December 6th; Neptune rules dreams, intuition, and illusions. Its retrograde can clarify truths, helping you see beyond illusions. We are going to spend almost the entire rest of the year with this energy. This will be a time for increased clarity, making it easier to see things for what they are, particularly in the Pisces-ruled house of your birth chart. Advice: Pay attention to your intuition and dreams. Use this period to delve into your subconscious and gain clarity.
Jupiter will go retrograde in Taurus on September 5 – December 31st; Jupiter is the planet of luck and expansion. It’s time for inner growth and understanding and to reflect on values that are important to us and align them with your goals, then start to work toward those goals by doing just one small thing at a time.
Advice: Embrace learning and introspection. Revisit personal beliefs and consider how they align with your current life.
Uranus goes retrograde in Taurus August 29 – January 27th; Uranus, the “Great Awakener” brings sudden, unexpected changes and revolutions. This retrograde period will be transformative with all us being urged to break free from stagnant routines, embrace change and revolt against what isn’t working for our highest good.
Advice: This is a perfect period to question the status quo in your life. What have you been accepting without challenge? Where might you need a personal revolution? While the changes invoked by Uranus can be jarring, they’re often necessary for growth. Consider where you’ve felt stagnant and what radical shifts might help you progress.
While the thought of seven (7) retrogrades might seem daunting, remember that these events offer opportunities for reflection, growth, and evolution. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, take a moment to breathe, reflect, reassess, reimagine, rethink, and redirect your energies. The most important “RE” of all is REST! Lean into the cosmic challenges and go with the flow – SLOWLY!
You’ve got this!
