This reflection opens a new 2026 series I’ll be sharing here —
Astrology That Makes Sense: Walking Through the Threshold.
Before the fire, there is a pause.
A quiet space where something is clearly ending, yet nothing new has fully taken form. The ground feels different here — less solid than it once was, but not yet ready to be built upon. It’s a moment that asks us to slow down, to notice, and to listen more carefully than usual.
As we step into 2026, many of us are being invited to reorient — not toward the loudest voices or the endless stream of external noise, but toward the quiet knowing within. This isn’t a time that demands answers or bold declarations. It’s a time that asks for awareness. For presence. For honest reckoning with what no longer fits, even if we don’t yet know what will replace it.
This is the space before the fire — and it’s exactly where this year begins.
You may already feel it in subtle ways. Old structures can feel hollow now — roles, routines, or expectations that once provided stability no longer offer the same sense of meaning. Fatigue may linger even after rest. Grief can surface quietly, without a clear reason. There’s often low-level restlessness paired with a simple truth: the old ways aren’t working anymore.
If this resonates, take it as a quiet reassurance — you are exactly where you need to be.
Nothing about this moment asks you to push or prove.
You are standing in a liminal space — a threshold meant to be felt, not forced.
This early part of January reflects that truth beautifully. The Full Moon in Cancer arrived on January 3rd, illuminating emotional undercurrents that may have been quietly building beneath the surface. Cancer is where we seek safety, comfort, and belonging, and under this Full Moon, feelings can rise simply to be acknowledged. You may have noticed heightened sensitivity, nostalgia, or a desire to retreat and protect your inner world. This wasn’t weakness — it was simply information. An invitation to tend to what you feel before moving forward.
Astrologically, the sky mirrors this collective experience. Saturn and Neptune are slowly drawing closer to one another, preparing for a rare conjunction that will reset how we understand responsibility, faith, and identity. At the same time, Pluto continues its slow settlement into Aquarius, reshaping the collective landscape and challenging us to evolve beyond fear, polarization, and reaction. These are powerful transits, yet their earliest effects are often internal — felt first in the nervous system, the body, and our tolerance for chaos and constant stimulation.
Later in the month, on January 18th, the New Moon in Capricorn offers a different tone — quieter, steadier, and deeply grounding. Capricorn doesn’t rush the beginning; it asks us to consider what is sustainable. This New Moon doesn’t demand that you know the full plan. It simply asks: What kind of foundation do you want to build — and what no longer belongs?
Together, these lunar rhythms reflect the larger story unfolding. We are being asked to feel before we define, to listen before we act, and to create space before we initiate. The world may feel loud — and at times it will grow louder — but not everything urgent is aligned, and not every headline deserves your energy.
This is where discernment becomes essential. Pulling back from constant information doesn’t mean disengaging from life. It means choosing awareness over overwhelm. It means noticing how your body responds to what you consume. It means recognizing when fear tightens your system and when presence restores it.
February 1st begins with a Full Moon in Leo and with it brings an important moment of release. Leo invites us back to the heart — to passion, creativity, and authentic self-expression — yet it also illuminates what blocks that light from flowing freely. Under this Full Moon, fears of judgment, self-doubt, or the urge to dim yourself to stay safe may rise into awareness, not to shame you, but to be released. This lunation reminds us that staying centered doesn’t mean staying small. It means allowing what is true and alive within you to have space, even as the world around you continues to shift.
This is where awareness becomes medicine.
When you pause long enough to notice your breath…
When you recognize overwhelm before it turns into panic…
When you choose presence over prediction…
You are already anchoring yourself in a shifting world.
Before the fire comes the gathering.
Before clarity comes the quiet reckoning.
Before a new beginning takes shape, there is this moment — where awareness, not action, is the work.
As we begin this journey through 2026 together, know that there is nothing you need to force, prove, or perfect right now. Simply notice what is ending. Notice what no longer fits. And notice how often returning to yourself brings more steadiness than anything happening outside of you.
This is the space before the fire — and it is exactly where we are meant to begin.
As 2026 begins, consider this:
Amid all the collective change and growing noise, what practices, people, or inner truths may be ready to be released so I can stay present and grounded?
If you feel called to explore how these threshold energies are unfolding personally for you — through your chart, your current transits, or this larger cycle of becoming — I invite you to book a private session with me. These one-on-one conversations are a space to ground, clarify, and reconnect with your own inner guidance as the world shifts around us.
