Astrology That Makes Sense — Kathy Marie Austin
Have you noticed how different life feels this year?
Perhaps you’ve been going through the motions, doing what you’ve always done, handling responsibilities, meeting expectations, and trying to keep everything moving forward. Yet something feels different. What once seemed natural may now feel exhausting. What once made sense may no longer fit.
It’s as though life has changed, but we’re still operating from an old set of instructions.
Throughout 2026, we’ve experienced powerful astrological shifts, challenging us to reconsider how we live, what we believe, and where we place our energy. And while much of our attention has been focused on what’s happening around us, perhaps the most important changes are taking place within us.
Not everything needs to be fixed, explained, or immediately understood. Sometimes we need to acknowledge how deeply something has affected us before we can recognize what it’s teaching us.
November begins with Mercury retrograde in Scorpio and Venus retrograde in Libra, continuing the deeper examination of our thoughts, relationships, values, and the agreements we’ve made along the way.
Then, on November 9, the New Moon at 16° Scorpio invites us to go a little deeper.
Scorpio isn’t interested in appearances. It wants to know what’s underneath—the feelings we’ve buried, the truths we’ve avoided, and the patterns we’ve carried without questioning them.
This New Moon offers an opportunity to acknowledge what we’ve experienced, including those moments that have touched us on a deeply emotional or spiritual level.
We don’t have to rush past those experiences. We can allow them to become part of our understanding.
On November 13, Mercury stations direct in Scorpio and Venus stations direct in Libra. These shifts may help us begin making sense of what we’ve been reconsidering, particularly around communication, relationships, trust, and our own needs.
But understanding something doesn’t mean we must immediately act on it.
Sometimes awareness needs a little room to settle.
Mars entered Leo on September 27, bringing attention to our passion, confidence, creativity, and desire to express who we really are.
But Mars also represents how we use our energy, how we respond when challenged, and what we’re willing to stand up for.
Around November 5, Mars begins its pre-retrograde shadow at approximately 20° Leo.
Think of this period as a preview—a chance to notice situations and familiar reactions that may become important during Mars retrograde in early 2027.
Where are you pushing too hard? Where are you holding back? Are you acting from what genuinely matters to you, or simply responding the way you always have?
As Mars enters Virgo on November 25, the focus begins shifting toward the practical side of life: our health, work, routines, responsibilities, and how we manage our energy.
Perhaps the question isn’t how to accomplish more.
Perhaps it’s whether the life we’re working so hard to maintain still reflects who we’re becoming.
On November 22, the Sun enters Sagittarius, inviting us to look beyond our immediate circumstances and consider the bigger picture.
The Full Moon at 2° Gemini on November 24 brings attention to our thoughts, conversations, and the stories we tell ourselves.
Gemini gathers information. Sagittarius searches for meaning.
Together, they invite us to consider whether our familiar ways of thinking still reflect what we’ve come to understand.
We may discover that changing our perspective is just as important as changing our circumstances.
And then comes one of November’s most significant astrological alignments.
On November 29, Uranus in Gemini forms its second trine to Pluto in Aquarius, part of a series that began in July 2026 and continues into 2027.
Uranus challenges outdated thinking and opens possibilities we may never have considered. Pluto exposes what is no longer working and invites profound transformation.
Together, these outer planets speak to changes unfolding not only in our personal lives but also in our communities, institutions, and collective understanding of the world.
Old structures are being questioned. New ideas are emerging. And somewhere within those larger changes, we’re being invited to reconsider our own relationship with freedom, power, and personal choice.
Perhaps one of the greatest lessons of 2026 is that we cannot navigate a changing world by continually returning to old patterns.
And perhaps November invites us to take one more trip into the basement—not to revisit everything we’ve already been through, but to recognize what we may still be carrying.
Old beliefs. Unspoken expectations. Responsibilities that were never ours to begin with.
What are we still holding on to simply because it’s what we’ve always known?
For some, it may be years of putting others first, keeping the peace, trying to meet expectations, or feeling that we must continually prove our worth. Somewhere along the way, we may have lost touch with who we really are beneath the need to be wanted, needed, chosen, or understood.
And somewhere beneath all those expectations, old patterns, and years of people-pleasing, we may discover something extraordinary:
